Bishop Elect of West Buganda Diocese Rev Canon Gaster Nsereko and wife

NEWS- The House of Bishops of Church of Uganda sitting at Acaki Hotel in Kitgum Diocese on Sunday, 16th February 2025 elected Rev Canon Gaster Nsereko as the 7th Bishop of West Buganda Diocese.

This was revealed by the Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda Rev Canon William Ongeng and confirmed that the consecration and enthronement of the Bishop Elect Nsereko has been scheduled for 30th March 2025 at St Paul’s Cathedral, Kako in Masaka District in West Buganda Diocese.

Rev Canon Gaster Nsereko was born on 5th July 1965 in Bbira Naakuwadde Busiro in Wakiso District and became born again on 30th May 1993 at Namukozi in Mityana Diocese.

Rev Nsereko was ordained a Deacon on 9th December 1989 at St Andrew’s Cathedral Namukozi Mityana Diocese and priested on 10th December 1990 at the same Cathedral and was made a Canon on 17th January 2010 at St Paul’s Cathedral Kako West Buganda.

He holds a Bachelor of Divinity from Uganda Christian University, a Diploma in Primary Education from Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo among other academic qualifications.

He is currently the Archdeacon of Kakoma Archdeaconry and Vicar of St John’s Kakoma Church of Uganda in West Buganda Diocese and he  previously served as Provost of St Paul’s Cathedral Kako, Subdean, Archdeacon of Masaka Archdeaconry among other ministerial appointments.

Bishop Elect of West Buganda Diocese Rev Nsereko is married to Mrs Sarah Nsereko and God has blessed them with three Children.
