Nyakagyeme Twemereiregye My Heritage a social support, voluntary, semi-autonomous and non-profit WhatsApp Group for people born, raised migrated or married in Nyakagyeme Sub-county in Rukungiri District is gearing up to start an investment club to foster development.
According to the Group Chairman, Amon Ahurira, the Investment Club will be a collective financial undertaking for economic benefit by pooling financial resources together and inject them into viable noncredit investments.
While addressing the 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on January 6th at Rukungiri Inn in Rukungiri Municipality, Ahurira noted that for the year the group has been in existence, it has fostered common identity and fostered unity amongst its members and strengthened cooperation and togetherness while supporting one another especially in times of grief.
Nyakagyeme Twemereiregye My Heritage Group was started in March 2024 and currently, it has a total membership of 120 members who are bound by a vision to transform their community in social, economic
investment and ensure sustainable modern environment.
Ahurira said that their mission is to bring services nearer to the community with emphasis on national priorities and local needs through social, economic, cultural and investment enhancement.
It’s from this background that Nyakagyeme Twemereiregye My Heritage is planning to give back to the community by supporting health, education, agriculture and infrastructure which are the springboard for community development to complement government efforts.
Ahurira said that in only one year, the group has extended financial social support to 6 members who lost their beloved ones a total sum of more than Ugx 8.3 million where each on average received more than Ugx 1.5 million.
The Group also intend to start youth tailored activities in order to indoctrinate them into productive and skilled life so that they can create own job opportunities.
