NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District have registered a case of suicide by hanging in Kakoni cell, in Nyarugunda Parish in Kambuga Sub county.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate has confirmed the incident which was reported to the Police by Herbert Ndamanyire, a resident of the same area who identified the deceased as 28 year old Niwamanya Nelson aged who is also the resident of the same village.
It is alleged that the deceased while was from burial in Katojo, went home where he stayed with his mother and found her mother digging nearby and informed her that somebody needed her at their neighbor and the mother went to see who needed her.
Maate explained that by the time the mother of the deceased went back home, she found her son hanging on a rope in the sitting room for yet unknown reason.
A case of suicide was registered at Kambuga Police Station and the scene of crime was visited and documented and a postmortem examination was done and body handed over to the family members for burial.
Maate said that the case of suicide by hanging was registered at Kambuga Police Station under reference number SD 17/13/09/2024 to help in investigations.
