NEWS- South Africa Authorities have confirmed that a speeding bus has crashed in Northern Province of Limpopo killing 45 people while only one person survived with serious injuries.
The South African Department of Transport revealed that driver lost control and collided with barriers on a bridge near Mmamatlakala, causing the bus to go over the bridge and hit the ground and caught fire.
According to a statement by the Transport Department, the ill-fated bus was taking Easter pilgrims from Botswana, a landlocked country in Southern Africa, to Moria, a town in Limpopo.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has sent his condolences to Botswana and pledged support to the country and the survivor was an 8-year-old who is now receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.
The Provincial Police Department said that some bodies were burned beyond recognition while others were trapped inside the debris or scattered on the scene.
