KAMPALA- 74% of persons aged 10 years and above in Uganda are literate although the government is advised to work on issues leading to school dropouts.
The assistant Commissioner of statistics at Ministry of Education and Sports Vicente Ssozi says that there still some issues to be ironed out to increase on literacy levels of Ugandans such as increasing investment in education research agenda which will help to know the priorities of education sector.
Ssozi adds that the government must embrace technology advancement to help the education sector of Uganda since the world is becoming more digital.
Meanwhile Jim Mugunga the Executive Director, Public Private Partnerships Unit at the Ministry of Finance Planning & Economic Development says government is planning to put a one modern incubation center hub in Entebbe which is going to help in younger people doing ICT to transfer the theory they learn into practice and increase on innovation hence more jobs creation.
According to Muhunga, “the center will help gather more data of future educational issues hence perfection of education”.
He said this during the celebrations of statistics say yesterday at Uganda bureau of statistics house in Kampala.
