Fr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, M.Afr., was born on 3rd March 1974 in Kitumba, Kabale Diocese, Uganda.

He attended St. Paul’s Seminary, Kabale (SPAS), before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religious Studies from the Philosophy Centre in Jinja. He later obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the Institut Catholique de Toulouse, France.

He joined the Society of Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) and was ordained to the priesthood on 10 August 2003.

Ministry, Formation and Leadership
Throughout his priestly ministry, Bishop-elect Gubazire has served in pastoral, academic and leadership roles across Africa, Europe and Asia.

Mozambique (2003–2007)

  • Parochial Vicar at Nossa Senhora de Fátima Parish, Murraça.
  • Director of the School for Adult Education in Murraça and Caia.
  • Member of the Council of the Mozambique Section of the Missionaries of Africa.

France (2008)

  • Completed a Formation Course for Formators and Spiritual Accompaniment at the Jesuit Spiritual Centre, Le Châtelard, Lyon.

Ireland (2008–2010)

  • Obtained a Licentiate in Philosophy from the Milltown Institute of Philosophy, Dublin.

Malawi (2010–2016)

  • Professor and Dean of Studies at Lechaptois Formation House, Balaka.
  • Acting Rector of Lechaptois Formation House.
  • Delegate for the Protection of Minors for the Malawi Section of the Missionaries of Africa.

Jerusalem (2014)

  • Completed a Biblical Formation Course at St. Anne’s Formation Centre.

Philippines (2016–2020)

  • Earned a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Philosophy from the University of San Carlos, Cebu.
  • Coordinator and Chaplain of the Friends of Missionaries of Africa.
  • Member of the Council of the Asia Section of the Missionaries of Africa.
  • Rector of Our Lady of Africa Formation House Seminary, Cebu.

Ghana (2021–Present)

  • Dean of Studies at Spiritan University College, Ejisu.
  • Rector of St. Martin of Tours Formation House, Ejisu (since 2023).
  • Member of the Provincial Council of the Ghana-Nigeria Province of the Missionaries of Africa (since 2025).

Appointment as Bishop
With extensive experience in pastoral ministry, priestly formation, academic leadership and missionary service across several countries, His Excellency Msgr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, M.Afr. has now been appointed Bishop of Kabale Diocese, returning to serve the local Church where his vocation began.
