RUKUNGIRI– Preparations are in full swing for 91.8 Boona FM’s 8th anniversary celebration, dubbed “Ekigutuuro Ruhenda Myambi,” targeting an impressive turnout of at least 30,000 revelers. The main event is scheduled for July 12, 2025.
During a recent press conference held at Platinum Classic Suites, Buyanja, Station Manager Kakyene Namanya shared insights into the ongoing activities, which include football matches and pre-event concerts across various locations such as Ibanda, Rubare, Kikagati border and Kihihi in Kanungu District.
Namanya emphasized that the mobilization efforts will continue right up to the anniversary date. Isaac Bernard Tushabe, the station’s programs manager, expressed gratitude for the progress made since the previous event, highlighting extensive outreach initiatives.
The media was invited to participate in amplifying the event’s visibility. Namanya noted that Boona FM has gained international recognition for its event management skills, aiming to make this anniversary a historic milestone for both Rukungiri and Uganda.
Pre-Event Activities
The anniversary festivities commenced in December 2024, with various activities planned, including football matches and community engagements. Notably, the celebrations will kick off on July 11 with a match featuring KASESE young Villa at St. Gerald’s SS Playground.
On the day of the main event, festivities will start with an anniversary walk led by Bishop Callist Rubaramira of Kabale Diocese, alongside other dignitaries. Additional activities include a kids’ party featuring live performances, a cycling competition, congregation of Humura program listeners, tug-of-war, eating contests, and wrestling matches.
The entertainment lineup boasts prominent artists, including Tanzanian superstar Saidah Karoli and Mesearch Ssemakula, Catherine Kusasira, Ray G, Clever J, Vinka, Chris Evans, Truth 256, Lydia Jazmine, T Paul, Gravity Omutujju, Sister Charity, Rasta Charz, Medotex Americana, Prettie Imac, Geoffrey Beingana among others.
General admission will cost 10,000 UGX, with early bird tickets available for 8,000 UGX. VIP tables range from 200,000 to 1 million UGX.

Community and Business Engagement
Michael Manzi Kasozi, the marketing manager, acknowledged the support of sponsors such as MTN, Pepsi, and Rukungiri Farmers Sacco. He mentioned that the event presents an opportunity for local businesses, with only 50 stalls set to participate.
The station aims to enhance the customer experience with improved technology for ticket identification and special entry points for early bird attendees.
Station Director Maanige Wenceslas praised the contributions of all stakeholders over the past eight years, stating that the event will provide numerous opportunities for both revellers and local businesses.
Maanige added that this year’s Ekigutuuro Ruhenda Myambi is aimed at giving back to the community, especially traders who will benefit from the event. He added that the activities of this event are also designed to benefit the community, such as the bicycle-riding competition.
The Managing director added that this year’s artistes are a blend of all categories including circular music, gospel, oldies, national and international artistes. Maanige announced that Felista da star will lead the kids party as an inspiration that kids can have their talents grown and put to better use for the future.
Looking Ahead
Mary Paula Turyahikayo, former legislator and co-director of the station, expressed appreciation for the government’s support of media privatization, which has enabled Boona FM’s growth. She announced plans for a future television station and highlighted the station’s commitment to community service and talent development.
