Museveni reacts to welcome applause on arrival at Kaliiro Town Council

Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has told leaders in Lyantonde District to stop viewing leadership positions as a career but rather as a call to serve the people.

President Museveni’s statement followed his observation of unnecessary conflicts between a number of aspiring leaders for different positions in Lyantonde District fighting over the same positions which he says is uncalled for.

While addressing a campaign rally at Kaliiro Town Council Grounds in Lyantonde District, President Museveni noted that leaders are meant to amplify people’s aims if they are to be of significance citing the NRA/M liberation struggle and referred conflicting factions in Lyantonde District to the NRM principles for guidance.

President Museveni promised to avail water drilling equipment to water stressed districts in the cattle corridor including Lyantonde, Ssembabule and others to ease access to water for grazing.

He also confirmed government plans to tarmac roads in Lyantonde District that include Ntuusi – Kashagama – Lyantonde road, Lyantonde – Lumbugu – Lwamaggwa – Rakai road, Kabingo – Rugaaga – Rakai road and Lusalira – Kabamba – Ssembabule road among others and re-echoed the challenge he faces with non ideologically aligned Members of Parliament who appropriate funds to non priority sectors.

He promised to extend piped water supply to Lyantonde District from Kagera River as was done for its neighboring districts of Mbarara and Isingiro and noted that the move will enhance wealth creation initiatives in the District and advised the population to harness the thriving infrastructural developments in their area for wealth creation.

President Museveni hinted on peace and security preservation plans for the country and development strides for Lyantonde District as he unpacked the NRM wealth creation strategy to the people of Lyantonde District with guidance on proper economic enterprises selection, the 4 acre model initiative and quitting subsistance livelihood.

The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate advised the people of Lyantonde District to adopt modern farming strategies for improved yields and unveiled job opportunity sectors viable for the people of Lyantonde District.

Presidential Candidate Museveni was accompanied to Lyantonde District by top National Resistance Movement Party leaders led by the National Vice Chairperson Rt Hon Anita Among Among many others.
