‎Rubaare town Council in Ntungamo district has started the demolition of several structures illegally constructed in road reserves along the busy Ntungamo-Kabbare Highway and other all streets in Rubaare town council.The move, according to the council authorities, is to enforce national urban planning standards.

‎The authorities have also cleared the roadsides of informal businesses, including chapati stalls, chips stalls, tomatoes’ stalls, meat-roasting points, and mobile kiosks and containers plus banana plantations within the council.

‎ Mr Emmanuel Byamukama the Town Clerk Rubaare town council, states that the removal of kiosks and containers from the streets is a critical step in reclaiming the town’s organized layout.

‎Byamukama however thanked some business people for complying to the directives before the ultimatum deadline for the demolition which was today 15th April 2026.

‎He also urged the owners of the remaining structures like toilets among other temporary structures to comply before the enforcement team intervene to demolish them on behalf.

‎However, some of the affected traders expressed frustration, citing significant financial losses during the transition.

‎Daniel Arinda aka omubaagi a goat meat roaster states that he has meat in his rented room and now fears where he will relocate to roast it. He fears that the new location in the park is too hidden from the main road. He added that the sales will reduce because customers are unlikely to divert from the highway to find them.
