The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Jacob Marksons Oboth-Oboth has called for use of parliamentary diplomacy to bridge the gap between the Uganda and Italy.
Speaker Oboth-Oboth said that the move will enhance robust cooperation through exchange programmes, institutional partnerships and sharing expertise in legislative drafting, committee systems and oversight.
Rt Hon Oboth-Oboth made the remarks yesterday July 16th 2026 while meeting the Italian Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Mauro Massoni at his Chambers in Kampala.
The Speaker said that, the proposed collaboration aims to build the capacity of Members of Parliament and staff while addressing global priorities such as climate change, migration and youth employment.
Ambassador Massoni hailed the existing relationship between Uganda and Italy and said that his country is looking forward to have more mutual bilateral relations between the two countries.
