
The Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkiizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka accompanied other church dignitaries has commissioned Karukondo ordinary water spring in Kurukondo village in Nyakashure Parish in Nyamirama Sub-county in Kanungu District.
The water spring was constructed by the North Kigezi and Kinkiizi Water and Sanitation (NKKD WATSAN) an organisation that has been funding water and sanitation in the two sister Dioceses since 1980’s with the its origin from UK support team.
The area Parish Chief who represented the Government at the function, thanked the Bishop and his team for always supporting the local communities by providing the basic needs where water is included.
The NKKD Coordinator Rev Moses Kabareebe thanked the area LC 3 chairperson for always lobing for Nyamirama people saying that he always calls him requesting him to make more projects in the area.
Marius Katuguka the NKKD WATSAN sustainability coordinator advised water users not to plant eucalyptus trees near the water source saying they are hazardous to water sources. He also emphasised cleanliness around the spring.
The Kinkizi Diocesan Secretary Rev Elizabeth Akandida encouraged beneficiaries to value what they have been entrusted with and added that the water source should not be a certer for dangerous vices especially among the youth. He further emphasised cleanliness in homes and utensils used to fetch water.
The Bishop informed Christian that they cannot separate water and sanitation, saying that “water is life no one can live without water” and.referring to the Gospel according to John 10:10, where he emphasised that Christians need to live well and all that the church does is to preach heal and teach hense the church follows the same footsteps.
