The Police in Rukungiri District have arrested one suspect and are hunting for another one who is on the run in connection with the alleged for assault of a 45 year old man identified as Habert Musinguzi a resident of Isherero village in Kyatoko Ward in Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident that took place in isherero village in Kyatoko Ward where the victim died instantly.
Maate told journalists that the suspect arrested is 45 year old Byamukama John a resident of Nyakashaka village also in Kyatoko Ward and are now hunting for 38 year old Nuwamanya Luke a resident of Isherero village who is on the run.
It is alleged that yhe deceased was called by his sister to go to Kyatoko Trading Center to buy for him alcohol in the bar of Phiona of which he did and upon reaching there, he found his son Muhangi Davis in the said bar, and later was joined by the suspects who developed a quarrel with Muhangi who decided to leave behind his father.
Maate explained that it was at this point that, one Nuwamanya followed the son to fight him but failed to get him and he decided to go back, and on his way, he met the deceased and instead decided to assault him around the head and he fell down.
When the family members got the information, they rushed him to Case Clinic in Rukungiri Town where he was later referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital but passed away along the way.
Maate said that the Police was notified today morning proceeded and visited the scene where one suspect identified as Byamukama John was arrested for questioning and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center lll Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
