President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today chaired a virtual meeting on the current situation in Libya in his capacity as the Chairperson for the African Union Peace and Security Council for the month of July.
During the interaction, president Museveni made seven points on the situation and thanked Guinea President Denis Sassou Nguesso for the great work he has done so far as the chairman of the high-level committee on Libya.
President Museveni said that they are demanding that the ceasefire be maintained because fighting will not bring any solutions to Libya and there should be no meddling by foreign countries.
President Museveni also demanded that foreign fighters and mercenaries must leave Libya immediately and all Libyans should participate in the dialogue under President Denis Sassou Nguesso and the other facilitators.
The President also suggested that Libya should have elections where all Libyans of voting age should participate as a solution to the problem of Libya, as it has been for all other countries like Somalia.
President Museveni said that it is a shame that Africa has allowed this criminal activity to go on and now they ought to get together and do something about Libya.
President Museveni said that the Secretariat has issued a full communique about what transpired in the meeting.
