Rukungiri District National Resistance Movement Secretary General Rukundo Paul Rwabihurwa has urged all leaders and supporters of the party to embrace reconciliation, dialogue and mutual respect in order to be able to deliver meaningful services to the people.
Rukundo Rwabihurwa issued a statement today August 1st 2025 where he said that the outcomes of the primary elections should not overshadow the party greater goal of securing victory in the general elections.
He noted that it is now time to come together to rise above individual differences and to reaffirm commitment to the collective cause and they should now extend the hand of brotherhood and sisterhood to one another and also refocus energies on building stronger and more unified district.
“As with all contests, there have been a winner and those who did not emerge victorious. However, let us remember what unites us is greater that what may temporarily divide us. We are all members of one party, one family, bound by shared vision of prosperity and transformation of our district and our nation under the continued leadership on the National Resistance Movement.
Rukundo Rwabihurwa however, extended heartfelt appreciation to those who participated in the recently concluded NRM primaries at different levels and prayed that each continue performing citizenary duties for the remaining lower posts and said that as leadership of the party in Rukungiri District efforts will be made at a later stage to engage all parties to reaffirm the reconciliation strategy.
The Rukungiri District NRM Secretary General statement comes out at a time when all losers have petitioed the NRM Tribunal over what they termed as irregularities that included voter intimidation, bribery and declaring wrong results which left the candidates and voters divided more than before.
He said that the party strength is bound to be guided to be guided by the principles of Patriotism, Pan Africanism, social economic transformation and democracy.
