Kigezi Region Police PRO ASP Elly Maate

The Police in Kisoro District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 62 year old man identified as Emmanuel Nzabara a taxi driver and resident of Bunagana Town Council.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the death saying that the deceased is believed to have had two wives and that he have been having domestic problems with one of them identified as Vasta Nyamagyere.

It’s alleged that, on Thursday 7th August 2025 the deceased rented out a house without the knowledge of Nyamagyere who in protest decided to lock the said kiosk with a padlock and  this brought tension in the family. 

However, Innocent Maniragaba, son to the deceased travelled from Kampala yesterday and upon arrival, he fought with his father over the same while locked in the house of Vasta Nyamagyere and the deceased sustained injuries on the head.

The deceased Nzabara was rushed to Mutolere hospital for treatment and fortunately, he was pronounced dead last night 

Maate explained that when the Police were informed, the case was registered at Bunagana Police Station, the scene of crime was visited, processed and documented, statements recorded from some witnesses and postmortem examination waa done at Mutolere hospital, later the body was handed over to relatives for burial. 

Maate explained that two suspects who include 55 year old Vasta Nyamagyere the wife to the deceased and Innocent Maniragaba the son who traveled from Kampala and fought the father have since been arrested over the matter.

Maate said that people should know that so long as they think that they can always settle their agrevouses by unlawful methods of taking law into their own hands, they will be having problems and end up becoming victims of circumstances.
