Parts of the shattered motorcycle involved in accident

The Police in Kisoro District have registered a fatal road accident where one person died on spot and two others critically injured.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident and said that it took place yesterday August 15th at Busamba along Kisoro –  Kabale highway in Kisoro district, when motor vehicle registration number UBH 156Q collided with motorcycle registration number UEG 370X.

Maate identified the deceased person as 38 year old Niiyonzima Peter, a resident of Rwabara village in Chahafi Town council in Kisoro District while the injured include 56 year old Niyonsaba Marita and male juvenile whose particulars are yet to be ascertained and both were passengers on the motorcycle.

Eye witness said that it is alleged that, while the speeding motorcycle was over taking, another vehicle emerged from the direction of Kabale and as the rider tried to pull back to his lane, was knocked by the very vehicle he intended to overtake killing him on spot.

Maate explained that the passengers on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Mutolere Mission Hospital for treatment.

Maate told journalists that the scene of accident was visited, processed and documented, the body was delivered to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination and the wreckage towed and parked at Kisoro Central Police Station pending IOV inspection as investigations continue
