Rt Rev Dan Zoreka confirming the students at Nyakinoni Secondary School

KANUNGU – The Bishop of Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka has implored students to make right choices in order to have a better life without blaming any one.

Bishop Zoreka made the remarks October 10th while presiding over the confirmation of 66 students and dedicating the S.4 and S.6 candidates to the Almighty God at Nyakinoni Senior Secondary School China Campus in Nyakinoni Sub County.

The school also organised a thanksgiving session to congratulate Bishop Dan Zoreka and his wife Maama Flora Zoreka on their 14th anniversary as Episcopal Leader of the Diocese of Kinkizi.

The Bishop said, “God is looking for people who are ready to take charge of their destinies and therefore the students should from today make rightful decisions and get ready to change their lives for better life tomorrow”.

Bishop Zoreka reminisced his own past which was a humble beginning as he struggled to live in his community, but managed to overcome life challenges when he remained focused, determined and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.

While delivering the sermon the Diocesan Youth Cordinator and Head of ICT Rev Bob Ntegyereize encouraged the students to exercise high degree of discipline if they want a better education and a better future.

Nyakinoni Senior Secondary School Headteacher Dan Byabashaija thanked Bishop Zoreka for sparing time to visit the school where he confirmed the students, interacted with the entire school community and gave them words of encouragement.

He particularly hailed the Bishop and his family for choosing to celebrate his 14th anniversary as Bishop of Diocese of Kinkizi with Nyakinoni Secondary School community where a cake was cut and shared with the students and staff and thanked him for the material, moral and financial support.

He said that currently, the school has a total of 1,415 students of which 707 are boys and 708 are girls with a total of 64 teaching and Non teaching staff who have managed to provide competent and competitive students capable of harnessing their local environment for the benefit of their academic, social and capital needs.

Headteacher Byabashaija appealed for more support to the school especially for the management to meet the ever increasing number of students and thanked the parents who have entrusted the school to educate their children.

He thanked former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi who is now the Chairman of Africa Global Security and Presidential Envoy to the Great Lakes Region for linking the school to the People’s Republic of China whose support to the school that include infrastructure, furniture, text books and other support has greatly helped the school.

He acknowledged the support from the government of Uganda and Kanungu District Local Government which have ensured that the school operates continously by providing human resource, capitation grants and instructional materials and the Old Students led by Rev Bannet Ariho who mobilised Ugx 28 million for purchase of computers.

The event was also attended by the Bishops Commissary who is also Nyakinoni Archdeacon Rev Canon Enos Mukombe, the Diocesan Education Offficer and Bishops Chaplain Rev Can Stella Arinaitwe, PTA Chairman Rev Rev Ezra Tumwesigire, District Education Officer Shaban Adam, Bishop Comboni College Kambuga Headteacher Brother Innocent Katushabe, Kirima Community SSS Headteacher Dismus and Nyakinoni Primary School Headteacher Kenneth Naboth among many others.

The function was spiced up by soings of praise and worship led by the School Chapel choir and attended by all the students and staff.
