KAMPALA- National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi  Ssentamu alias Bobi-Wine has been discharged from Nsambya Hospital after undergoing a surgical procedure.

According to Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP spokesperson, the situation at the hospital escalated due to security operatives, allegedly trying to access the hospital room, which has scared them.

He says after the surgery was done, and fragments of tear-gas canister removed, the hospital has approved their request for Kyagulanyi to continue his recovery and receive further treatment at home.

“We had the problem of pain clothed men trying so hard to access his admitted room; they were even trying to access his medical forms from the hospital. We don’t know what they want to do to him. That is why we had to request for a discharge from the hospital.” Ssenyonyi said.

Ssenyonyi has issued a stern warning to the government, urging them to halt the brutal treatment of citizens and refrain from pushing Ugandans to the brink of desperation. “I warn this regime that Ugandans will reach a certain point and defend themselves from the kind of brutality being done on them by this regime.” Ssenyonyi.

However, Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke countered that the heavy deployment at St. Francis Nsambya Hospital was merely a precautionary measure to maintain law and order in the area.

Earlier, roads leading to the hospital were blocked by the large police presence, disrupting the hospital’s normal operations and causing frustration.
