NEWS- The North Kigezi Diocesan Deputy Chancellor, who is also the Secretary of Uganda Law Society Counsel Isaac Atukunda has launched an Education Trust fund to help children from needy families in Rukungiri Municipality to access Education.
Dubbed “Atukunda Education Trust” the initiative is focusing on paying School fees for children whose Education is faced with calamity of parents unable to provide for them.
Counsel Isaac Atukunda hailed the Municipal Education Officer Katabazi for the great work being done in Rukungiri Municipality’s Education sector stressing that the Municipality is being recognized nationally because of its performance in the 6th position.
Pointed out that his past history, especially on how he became what he’s today motivated him to support his homeland with such an initiative and wants the mandate so that he can lobby more for them.
The aspiring Politicians has already supported people’s social economic welfare where he has helped in starting up a number of Saccos, supporting Health through ensuring that communities get clean and safe water by renovating boreholes and springs, supporting religions that nourish people’s lives, offering legal support where he’s anticipating to bring a team of lawyers to help the people in the Municipality at a free cost.
He is also looking at supporting agriculture, education as well as lobbying for able people to start up factories in Rukungiri Municipality to solve the unemployment problem.
Made it clear that he’s what he’s because of education hence encouraging the young generation to embrace education for the benefit of their future and emphasized the need for parents to always pray for their children to overcome a number of evils in Educational facilities these days.
Counsel Isaac Atukunda stated that the trust fund is non-partisan or sectarian and asked teachers to follow up on these children as well as parents to facilitate the child with food and other necessities for a smooth learning process.
He promised that once he’s given the mandate, he will advocate for teachers’ welfare since they are the light to the nation. He also tasked the parents to desist from domestic violence stressing that such acts can negatively affect the learning process of their children.
The 16 first beneficiaries of this program were chosen by leaders in patterneship with Head teachers and they are set to benefit under this arrangement until they complete their primary education.
“An educated child doesn’t only change the family but the society and the country as a whole. I would wish to support more than this number, but let’s start with these as we socialist for more support from other well wishers so that we can enroll more” said Counsel Isaac.
Rukungiri Municipality Principle Education Officer Alfred Katabazi was appreciative of Counsel Isaac Atukunda’s idea of supporting the needy Ugandans pointing out that this is a great milestone in supporting the Country’s education.
Katabazi acknowledged that such an attribution is a lifetime memory in the mind of those that are set to benefit from this program and asked parents of the beneficiaries to nurture them into disciplined learners so that they can maintain this opportunity to the apex.
Hon Fred Mucunguzi, the Eastern Division District Councilor who is also the political assistant to Council Isaac pointed out that a lot has so far been done and that preparations are still on to ensure that the community is well off.
Mucunguzi stressed that they are aiming at developing all the people despite their political affiliation thus requesting for prayers in this journey, support in advice, friendships and extending this good news to other people that are yet to benefit.
Precious Mwesigwa, the Chairperson team Counsel Isaac appreciated the head teachers for accepting their invitation on a short notice to the launch of “Atukunda Education Trust” pointing out that they are ready to work with them to ensure a steadfast transition in this sector.
Kiconco Sirage, Edith Natweta the headteachers of Rukungiri and Town Council Primary schools respectively appreciated Counsel Isaac stressed that he had supported them in a number of ways especially when they had fundraisings to construct some infrastructure at those schools and many others.
The parents and the learners who were enrolled under this initiative hailed counsel Isaac for giving them this support they said answered their gone hopes especially in completing their academic journeys.
