KAMPALA- Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi has threatened to withdraw forgery offenses against youth accused of forging signature of the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni.
This after prosecution led by Lydia Nakato’s failure to produce witnesses since May 2024 to testify against the 24 year old youth.
The magistrate has again remanded the accused to Luzira Prison until November, 27th, 2024, saying if the state fails to produce witnesses on that day, the case will be dismissed for want of prosecution.
A 24 year old Kenneth Niwamanya a resident of Bulenga in Wakiso District is battling with forgery offenses.
Court heard that Kenneth Niwamanya has for long desired to have the first lady also minister of Education and sports be the patron of his organisation; Umoja Youth Initiative Development Uganda; something that pushed him to unlawfully write ” To Whom it May Concern” letters bearing the scanned signature of the first lady and used it in various offices to solicit for money purporting to organise a function at Kololo Ceremonial grounds.
Niwamanya is allegedly committed the offense on August, 22nd 2023 and was arrested from Ministry of Education offices in Kampala carrying the said letters with a forged signature.
