The tournament, organized under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Januario Nomugisha, Director of the Youth and Children Ministry in Kabale Diocese, sought to bring together young people from diverse backgrounds to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit.
Sheikh Kamugisha’s presence at the event was lauded as a significant gesture of interfaith harmony.
“I am inspired by the Catholic community’s efforts to foster a sense of belonging and unity among the youth,” Sheikh Kamugisha remarked. “It is moments like these that remind us that our differences should not divide us but rather create opportunities for growth, understanding, and mutual respect.”
His address was met with applause and appreciation, as attendees recognized his dedication to promoting peace and harmony within the community. Sheikh Kamugisha concluded his speech by highlighting the deeper purpose of the event:
“This tournament is not just about football. It is about building a foundation of hope and solidarity for our youth. I am committed to supporting and working alongside the Catholic community and other faith-based organizations to create a brighter future for all.”
