KATAKWI- The Chairman of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for the Eastern Region, John Odong, was yesterday 18th march 2025 in Katakwi, where he met with district referees in preparation for the upcoming tournament organized by Hon. Peter Ogwang.
The tournament is scheduled to kick off on March 22nd with Katakwi sub-county Varsing Katakwi town council.
The tournament, which is being organized by Hon. Peter Ogwang, the Minister of State for Education and Sports, as well as the Ngariam County Legislator, will feature seven sub-counties from Ngariam County.
The stakes are high, with the winning sub-county set to receive UGX 15 million, the second-place sub-county receiving UGX 10 million, and the third-place sub-county receiving UGX 5 million. The remaining four sub-counties will each receive UGX 1 million.
According to Odong, Hon. Ogwang’s tournament is the most organized and reputable in the Teso sub-region, praising the Minister’s efforts in promoting sports in the country. He urged the referees to appreciate Hon. Ogwang’s leadership and to uphold the highest standards of ethics during the tournament.
The referees, who were jubilant about the upcoming tournament, promised to demonstrate their professionalism and integrity while officiating the games.
In other news, Omodoi sub-county residents start card positioning ahead of 2026 elections
Omodoi Sub County in Toroma County of Katakwi District has yesterday endorsed Anyakoit Cecilia as their choice candidate for the woman MP Race come 2026.
Christine Amongin, Joseph Okolimo, Apolot Anna grace and others while in a coordinator’s meeting organized by Hon. Anyakoit said her ground is at over 70 percent in their sub county following her frequent visits to burials, churches and other functions.
Anyakoit is tussling out with the incumbent women MP Jessica Alupo, Viola Akurut the former Woman Mp, among others.
Jorem Obukui, the LC3 of Akoboi sub county urged the public to unite by fronting Anyakoit since she has the ability to lead.
Patrick Agwa, the former coordinator of the incumbent woman MP called on the agents to continue spreading the message about Anyakoit from wherever they go.
As she was addressing her selected coordinators, Anyakoit said she is on civic education to the public on the importance of having a good leader before unveiling her manifesto.
She cited the need for local burials to be supported by the seating leaders if resources allow but promised not to be common in burials of rich people, saying, a lot of procedures are set.
