KAMPALA– The government will retain experts from various government agencies that are set to be merged into their respective mother ministries.
This decision comes following a resolution passed by the National Resistance Movement parliamentary caucus on Friday to support the merger of the remaining 16 agencies, a move aimed at streamlining operations and cutting public expenditure.
Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua says that these retained experts will be remunerated at the public service level. This assurance aims to maintain the quality of expertise within the government as the merger process continues.

However, the move has raised concerns among some Members of Parliament and stakeholders about the potential impact on the efficiency of these agencies once they are absorbed into the larger ministries.
