NEWS- The Police in Ntungamo District on Saturday night at about 9Pm registered a single fatal traffic road accident along the Kabale Ntungamo highway.
The accident according to Rwizi Region Police spokesman SP Samson Kasasira involved a motor vehicle registration number UAM 297L Nissan Bus green in colour belonging to Horizon Bus company which claimed on life and seriously injured others.
Kasasira told the press that the bus was from Kisoro headed to Kampala but on reaching Ntungamo Market near Standard Secondary school, it got a tyre burst causing the driver to lose control of the bus and it overturned.
The Police PRO confided to this reporter that a female passenger died on the spot and her identity was still unknown by press time. Several other passengers were injured in this accident according to Kasasira.
The victims were rushed to Itojo hospital for treatment and the body of the deceased was conveyed for Itojo Hospital mortuary for postmortem
The bus was still at the scene pending towing to Ntungamo Police station by the time we published this story.
Efforts to identify the victims that were on board the bus are ongoing according to Kasasira.
