Kabale Muslim District Kadhi, Sheikh Kabu Lule, has warned IMAAMS against practicing partisan politics. He revealed this during a one-day IMAAMS’ Retreat held at the residence of the Kabale Muslim District Kadhi in Kirigime Ward, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.
Addressing IMAAMS, the District Kadhi warned them against participating in politics, saying it’s against Islamic teachings and divides the Muslims he leads. He also cautioned IMAAMS against showing sides in politics, as they lead people from both political parties, such as NUP, NRM, FDC, and others.
He expressed concern about how politics have divided the people of the *Kigezi sub-region*, where even people of different faiths struggle to coexist, noting that a Protestant may no longer greet a fellow of a different faith, and the same applies to Catholics.
Furthermore, he defended Islam against those who associate it with terrorism, clarifying that Islam doesn’t teach terrorism and terrorism is not Islam. He challenged the public to treat individuals based on their actions, not their faith.
Additionally, he expressed concern over some Muslims who smoke, stating that it’s not only against Islamic teachings but also detrimental to one’s health. He also condemned violence within the Muslim community, emphasizing that Muslims should set a good example for the community they live in. The Kadhi also raised concerns about the dress code among some Muslims.
