NEWS- A 20-year old man has been lynched by angry residents in Kyomunembe trading center Kagadi town council in Kagadi district for allegedly stealing a goat.
The deceased has been identified as Frank Talemwa a boda boda rider who has been residing in a rental house in Kyomunembe trading center but hailing from Kituugu village in Kyakabadiima Sub-County Kagadi district. He has been attached to Nankurabye bodaboda stage.
According to Nestoli Tuhumwire, the Kyomunembe Lc1 chairman, the tragic incident happened in the wee hours of Monday morning at around 3:00 am when the angry residents intercepted the suspect with a stolen goat, lynched him and later burnt his body and the motorcycle Reg.no UFX 511X to ashes.
He said the locals that participated in the killing of the suspect are yet to be identified.
Tuhumwire also urged the residents to always let the law take its course, explaining that killing suspects is against the constitution of the government of Uganda.
He has however urged the youth to shun theft and embrace hard work to improve their livelihoods, and do not fall prey to such mob acts.
Meanwhile, residents have said the deceased has been a notorious thief terrorizing their area, also imploring youth to work hard and improve their socio-economic standards.
Meanwhile,the Albertine regional police spokesperson Allan Julius Hakiza has confirmed the incident and says police has begun investigations into the murder case. He said police has also started the hunt for the suspects who killed the suspected goat thief.
By press time police had taken the body to Kagadi hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
