NEWS- The opposition party Forum for Democratic Change- FDC in Kisoro district has urged residents to demand accountability from their political leaders.
Owen Ahimbisibwe, the FDC secretary in Kisoro district, revealed this stressing that residents have the right to demand for accountability from their political leaders because a lot was promised to them during the last campaign for the 2021 elections including developments that have not been fulfilled.
Ahimbisibwe, who declared a bid for Kisoro municipality mayorship in the upcoming 2026 elections, disclosed that most politicians pledge heaven and earth to the electorate aiming at the development of the district adding that most leaders win campaigns, but in the course of their leadership, they fail to fulfill their manifestos.
This comes after the vice-chairperson of the National Resistance Movement- NRM in Kisoro district, Ramathan Ndikuyeze, urged leaders to work hard for the residents in the remaining one and a half years before the general elections of 2026.
Ndikuyeze made this statement on January 4th, 2024, while addressing journalists at his office in Central Division, Kisoro Municipality. Ndikuyeze, who also serves as the local council chairperson of Central Division, Kisoro municipality, appealed to leaders to fulfill the manifestos they presented during the 2021 general elections.
Ndikuyeze appealed to leaders to visit residents and do what is needed, as promised during their campaign adding that leaders should not waste time seeking new posts but rather fulfilling their past manifestos.
He further asked residents to collaborate and work together, embrace love, and urged parents to educate their children before urging businessmen and farmers to seek guidance in their endeavors, which will lead to the development of residents.
