NEWS- A total of Ugx 49,150,900 and 735 bags of cement were raised during the memorial Thanksgiving of Businessman Didas Kanyesigye’s late parents Mzee Eldard John and Mrs Joy Zebicire and the fundraising.
The fundraising was meant to raise funds for the construction of the new building of St Paul’s Kacerere church of Uganda expected to cost Ugx 2.5 billion, a function that was held at St Paul’s Kacerere Archdeaconry Church of Uganda in the Diocese of Kigezi in Rubanda District.
While preaching during this service, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, the Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, has emphasized the need for Christians to shift their focus from the past to the future with Jesus Christ as their guiding force in 2024.
Bishop Akanjuna encouraged Christians to consider this time as the first half of football, acknowledging mistakes, seeking forgiveness from Jesus and focusing on a better life on the right path.
The Bishop emphasized God’s Mercy, love and ability to rescue and uplift His people from adversity and requested people to always help those who don’t have all basic needs stressing the importance of prioritizing education for their children
The Minister of State for Trade industry and cooperatives Hon David Bahati who is also the Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West who was the guest of Honor urged Kigezi Sub region residents to utilize the abundant natural resources within the area for self development
Minister Bahati revealed that Rubanda, Kabale and Kanungu Districts jointly hold 312 million tonnes of iron ore reserves, which if effectively utilised could sustain the region for over 50 years
Out of Ugx 49,150,900 collected, Ugx 41,500,900 was in cash, and Ugx 7,650,000 was secured through pledges.
