KAMPALA- Law Students from Higher institutions of learning together with the Law Reform Commission have sued the Attorney seeking free and unrestricted access to the newly launched revised 7th Edition of the principle laws of Uganda.
Also suing the Attorney General are visually impaired students who want the Laws also reproduced in the braille format for easy access.
The students from Makerere, Islamic University and Uganda Christian University and Law Development Centre have filed their petition before the High court’s civil division to seek the review orders.
On 27th June 2024 the new 7th Edition of the principle laws were launched but since then the laws gave been uploaded on Internet in soft copies which are paid at shs 5000 yet the volume in hard copy, the volume cost 2 .5 million shillings which fees the Human Rights lawyers complain are too exorbitant.
