KAMPALA- The Police have resolved that musicians are only allowed to move with a maximum of five people to music shows; anyone exceeding this number will be arrested.

The resolution of banning musicians from moving with large groups of people, citing concerns over violence and theft at music events that were exhibited last week during the new-year celebration music shows in various places.

A violent incident occurred on the night of December 31st, when rival gangs affiliated with musicians Alien Skin (Patrick Mulwana) and Pallaso (Pius Mayanja) clashed at three separate locations: the Buganda Kingdom’s end-of-year celebration. Other fights were in the Buloba music show and Makindye areas.

The gang group of Alien Skin beat revellers who heckled their principals as he performed. Several revellers were left nursing injuries and many lost their items such as mobile phones and wallets to Alien Skin’s gang.

On Wednesday, Alien Skin and his gang raided the Mpele music concert in Buloba and forcefully removed musician Pallaso from the stage while he was performing. In retaliation, Pallaso and his gang on Thursday raided the home of the Alien Skin gang in Makindye and destroyed properties.

The clashes have sparked public outrage, prompting police action. At a press conference at Naguru Police headquarters, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango announced that musicians are now banned from moving with large groups and are limited to a maximum of five people.
