NEWS– The Police in Mbarara District are currently investigating a case where a 65-year-old man murdered his biological son over land issues.

The suspect, Tumwiine Perez, 65, a resident of Bitereko Village in Kariro Parish, Rubindi in Mbarara District is said to have murdered his son, Tweteise Nickson 35 on allegations of theft.

The murder incident according to the area residents is said to have happened in the night of May, 19th.

Furthermore, the residents of Bitereko Village led by their Chairperson Dezi Mwombekyi told the press that the deceased has been a threat to the village as he was involved in cases of stealing people’s property, beating people, and he had threatened to kill his father if he does not give him part of his land.

It is also alleged that after murdering his son, Tumwine took himslelf to Rubindi Police Station where he is now detained over charges of murder.

The Officer in Charge of Rubindi Police station ASP Betungura Amos confirmed the incident noting that Police visited the scene, took the body of the deceased to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for post-mortem as investigations continue.

In a related development, the Crime intelligence Unit in Mukono in liaison with Mukono Central Police Station, carried out an intelligence led operation and arrested, a one Musimenta Ruth, a 30 year old, housewife and employee at NJ Business Solutions, for the murder by stabbing of her husband, Nsubuga James.

The incident happened on the night of 17th – 18th May 2024, at their marital home in Katikamu village, Mpoma Parish, Nama sub-county in Mukono district.

According to the Uganda Police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga, the male victim was stabbed by his wife around the neck area, during his sleep, that led to his death and that the suspect kept the body of the deceased in the bedroom for 2 days, till the 19th May 2024, when it was recovered by police.

The CI task team picked intelligence, indicating how the suspect was arranging to bury the body in a shallow grave, near the toilet. The killer weapon of a knife was recovered. Two army shoes and a toy pistol that belonged to the deceased were also recovered from the house.

We strongly condemn such acts of violence and brutality within domestic settings. The tragic incident brought an end to an abusive relationship between the couple. Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to killing her husband, in a pre-meditated manner, after she picked the knife and hid it in the bedroom.
