According to Magufuri, most of the TCAU members lost the 2020 party Primary elections primarily because of the issues that were in the voter registers. He adds that currently, almost all the Members of the Parliament are in their areas trying by all means to infiltrate the yellow book update and registration so that they can be favored in the forthcoming party primary elections.

Magufuri is optimistic that people like them who tested on the wrath of the party register in the last elections can now fully submit substantial information and advice that once put into action can solve similar occurrence/ disaster in the forthcoming election.

“Good morning dear honorable members of TCAU on this platform (and those off this platform). With honorable Magufuri Mugisha Moses as our head of delegation, we did hold a cordial and fruitful meeting with Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo the senior presidential adviser on political affairs/Bazukulu on the 12th March 2024. This meeting was held at the Office of the National Chairman in Kyambogo” part of the communiqué reads.

Information received by our reporter from different sources has it that issues pertaining to the members concerns were raised in a closed door meeting with Namyalo, Maguri, Okello Francis and Busobozi Godfrey Atwoki on March 12th 2024 and culminated into calling for a meeting of all members (former contestants at parliamentary level on NRM ticket during the party primaries of 2020) to attend a general meeting at Kyambogo at the ONC.

“As part of my mandate as the National Coordinator, i held a meeting with the senior Presidential Advisor on Political/ Bazuukulu affairs on March 12th 2024 and we want to engage all former aspirants who lost NRM Primaries in 2020 to forge way out to rebuild the party” said Magufuri.

“Please come and attend this meeting as it may lead to another meeting with the party chairman himself. Let’s stay focused on the NRM cause and a better Uganda for all” he added.

However, reports have it that some big shots in the government have been making all the efforts to stop the group from meeting the fountain of honor who is also the party chairman, but by the current looks, the move currently seems unstoppable with the interference of Hajat Namyalo who has pledged to follow up on their issues to the fingertip.

ABOUT NRM MEMBERSHIP REGISTER UPDATE

The NRM National Chairman and President of the Republic of Uganda H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni launched a display and update of the party membership register. The function took place at party headquarters at plot 10 Kyadondo Road, Nakasero, Kampala.

The President was informed by the party Secretary General Rt Hon. Richard Todwong that the existing register has been cleaned and only 11.4M out of the 17 Million were maintained.

Museveni said the register is now in the hands of the village NRM members who know themselves. “Last minute conversions from other political parties have to be scrutinised carefully before being registered as NRM members and the villagers should confirm that such persons have been pro-NRM in the NRM village activities.”

He guided that the village assembly/ barazas should confirm that such people crossing from other political parties have good intentions towards the NRM before being admitted into the NRM party.

Addressing the party members, President Museveni urged the party cadres to clearly understand the four core principles of the NRM; Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation and democracy, so that they can solve the problems of Ugandans.

“Mobilisation, holding meetings and all those other efforts will be very easy if you go back to the NRM principles. The principles of the NRM are a diagnosis of the problems of Uganda. Those principles are at first a diagnosis; what is this Uganda suffering from? And then a prescription. Therefore, as you mobilise, first of all, understand these principles very clearly. That is why you, the leaders, must be different from the followers. A follower doesn’t have to understand the depth of the matter, he needs a summary,” President Museveni stressed.

ABOUT TCAU

Transformers Cadres Association was formed by Members of the ruling National Resistance Movement who contested and failed in the previous party Primary elections have formed an association to stop future sham elections.

The association was basically formed to bring them together so that they can have a strong voice in seeking help for the members to recover from the loss and strategize for the 2026 election.

The members also thought to catch the attention of the party leaders who in their view had seemed to have neglected them.

The members further emphasized their dismay in the party’s silence on the chaos that marred the October 2020 party primaries which they lost. Some of the cadres regret paying the Shs2 million nomination fees to the party adding that there was no value for money.
