NEWS- The police in Ntungamo district are holding a man who tried to assassinate the Parish chairman using a sharp panga.
The suspect is Gilbert Kanamugire who tried to kill the Keina ward Chairperson Katon Steven though God used his protecting hand to save a life.
It is alleged that on Saturday night 17th January, the victim (chairman) met Kanamugire on his way home from Kimara trading centre and the suspect picked a panga from his outfit and attacked the chairman who made an alarm that caused the suspect to run away and went home.
Speaking to this website www.informer.co.ug, the victim said he had nothing like a grudge with the suspect and wondered why he wanted to kill him. The chairman is in good condition since he managed to make an alarm and the assailant (suspect) ran away before harming him.
By press time, Kamuhangire (suspect) was detained at Rwentobo police station in Rwentobo – Rwahi Town council, Ntungamo district waiting to be taken to courts of law.
