NEWS- Hundreds of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu subjects yesterday thronged Bulemba village in Ihandiro sub-county, Bukonzo County West in Kasese district for a memorial event of the founding King, Isaya Mukirania Kibanzanga.
Isaya Mukirania, who died on September 02, 1966, was buried in Bulemba village currently in the Rwenzori Mountains National Park.
At the event, the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma whose message was delivered by Hon. Aganatia Katya, the Minister of Culture, congratulated the subjects upon reaching the remarkable day.
The Rwenzururu Cultural leader appealed to the Kingdom’s subjects to implement the five pillars of the rebranding process. They include peace, unity, reconciliation and mindset among others.
He also implored the loyalists to embrace environmental conservation programs so as to address the negative effects of climate change which economically affected people’s livelihoods.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Noah Nzaghale, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, stressed that the Kingdom plans to develop all cultural sites in the district for tourism purposes. He listed the sites as Bulemba, where the first King is buried and Nyamutswa, Tibamwenda and Kapolyo tomb among others.
Earler, some of the residents at the event including Zakeri Masereka Sibughenderwa, Augustine Mbusa Bayilweko had requested the Kingdom officials to allow them maintain and develop Bulemba as a tourism site.
