According to the security company, the stolen cash amounted to One Billion, Sixty-Nine Million, Four Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ugandan Shillings (UGX 1,069,420,000) and USD 14,474.

Owoyesigyire explained that police embarked on rigorous investigations immediately over the weekend, leading to the arrest of one suspect, Otim Ambrose Richard, in Kwania District. He was found in possession of one Hundred Seventeen Million Ugandan Shillings (UGX 117,000,000) suspected to be part of the stolen money.

“Investigations are ongoing, and more details will be shared as soon as they are available. We assure the public that every effort is being made to recover the remaining money and bring all culprits to justice.” Owoyesigyire said.

Police have launched the manhunt to have the second suspect on the run arrested. “All efforts are on to have his colleague also arrested. This is something that we have not quite seen for a while, where security guards are given the responsibilities of guarding or transiting it from one place to another and conniving to rob.”Owoyesigire.
