NEWS– The Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult, whose decomposed body was discovered in a trench at Hataaba village, Shebeya Parish in Hamurwa Sub county.
According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate, the deceased is between 25 to 35 years of age, tall and fat putting on short sleeved shirt squared strips of black in white colour and a trouser.
Maate told journalists that the local residents of Hataaba cell were passing through a small path from Hamurwa cell in a trench of water and they saw a decomposing body of an adult which attracted their attention and they had to inform the area chairperson of Hataaba cell Karabahite Demiano who also reported the matter to Police.
The Police visited and documented the scene and the body was retrieved from the swamp and taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination and they urged anyone with missing the dear one, should visit the Hospital Mortuary so that can help to identify the body and take it for a decent burial.
Maate said that the case was registered at Rukiga District Central Police Station under reference CRB 048/2024 to help in investigations.
Meanwhile the Police in Kabale District have registered an accident involving a vehicle registration number UAN 100Z where more than 35 people were left with body threatening injuries.
Its reported that the accodent took place when the driver of the fateful vehicle who was heading to Kabale town from burial at Mubwindi in Rubanda District failed to negotiate a sharp corner at Kamusegwa cell in Nyarurambi Ward in Rubanda Town Council and fell on its right hand side on the road and slid for some meters.
Maate explained that the passengers had warned the driver who later fled from the scene on over speeding but their plea fell on deaf ears and all the 35 victims were rushed to the nearby Muko Health Center IV by good Samaritans.
The scene of crime was visited by Rubanda District Traffic Police Officer Sgt Mwine Patrick and team and the vehicle was towed away and parked at Rubanda District Police Station pending Inspector of Vehicles inspection which was registered under reference number TAR 08/2024 to help in investigations.
