The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has announced a pack of investments for Buvuma Island district that include a palm oil processing factory, Fishing processing factories and tourism infrastructure.
The Presidential pronouncement follows massive palm oil growing across Buvuma Island district promoted by government to aid industrialization for welath and job creation to Buvuma Islanders.
Presidential Candidate Museveni made the announcement today January 3rd while campaigning at Kidinindi Playgrounds in Buvuma Island district where he confirmed plans to deliver electricity to towns across Buvuma Island district in the next 6 months in a gradual process to distribute power to all villages on the Island.
Candidate Museveni said that mini power stations have been confirmed for Buvuma Towns and an underwater hydropower cable will be laid in a year’s time for lastmile electricity reach to villages on Buvuma Island adding that he has directed the ministry of energy to promptly undertake that plan
The President also announced the construction of a main Tarmac road on through Buvuma Island district to further improve Mobility on the Island for socioeconomic development and promised to scaleup clean and safe water distribution beyond the current 53% reach with piped water and other improved water supply systems
The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate Museveni granted Buvuma Island district a district hospital by upgrading of Buvuma Health Center IV and pronounced the elevation of several health facilities to meet the demand for health services by the increasing population on the Island and promised additional government primary and secondary schools to supplement the already existing ones.
President Museveni and residents of Buvuma Island have jointly resolved to develop a counter strategy to preserve the lake and Fisheries activities and among the suggested plans in the ban of fishing in breeding areas and control on the number of fishing population among others.
He noted that the reckless fishing habits had depleted the lakes until government countered the vise and now is the time for fishing communities to take lead of fishing activities and management of lakes for posterity and promised to lead commercial fish farming initiatives by digging ponds for communities to rear their own fish and control crowding on the lakes.
President Museveni explained how palm oil processing will aid industrialization for welath and jobs creation coupled with commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services sector and skills.
As he explains during the NRM presidential campaign rally at Kidinindi play grounds in Buvuma Island District and guided the people of Buvuma Island on the uptake of wealth creation initiatives and sustain land use.
While speaking at the same event, the First Lady Maama Janet Kataha Museveni noted that the 40 years of the NRM revolutionary leadership have laid a stable foundation for the country’s development and rallies the electorate of Buvuma Island district to maintain the NRM government in power for more development.
The NRM vice Chairperson for Buganda Sub region Hon Haruna Kasolo highlighted development aspects for Buvuma Island district while the NRM district Chairperson for Buvuma Island District Fred Wandera read the district memorandum to the President.
