Mr Museveni made the remarks on Monday Feb 25th 2020 while addressing the 20th African Water Association (AFWA) International Congress at Serena International Conference Centre in Kampala.

“Water issues must be addressed holistically in tandem with other issues like the environment, health, income generation and electrification”. President Museveni said.

The President noted that water cannot be managed and handled in isolation when issues of energy are not tackled and people are busy destroying forests which affect rain formation.

Mr Museveni said that water is household issue and it goes hand in hand with household incomes, fighting corruption, getting our masses out of traditional to commercial farming, stabilizing land productivity through irrigation and security.

The President therefore said that in order to achieve equilibrium in water management all these issues must addressed.

He congratulated National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Managing Director Eng. Silver Mugisha for assuming office as the new chair of African Water Association and also congratulate him for authoring a book, “Sustaining High Performing Public Enterprises”, which he subsequently launched at the function.

The event was attended by water managers all over Africa and donor agencies involved in supporting water sector.
