The Team handing over the funds

NEWS- The Kabale based Rugarama Hospital is grappling with a shortage of infant phototherapy machines crucial for treating newborn premature babies, as disclosed by Dr. Rutaremwa Esther, the Medical Superintendent.

The hospital received a generous donation of  UGx 1,700,000 from the legends of Christian Sports Contact (Chrsc) to address this pressing issue.

Expressing her gratitude towards Chrsc, Dr. Rutaremwa shed light on the monthly influx of premature babies, averaging between 20 to 30, including referrals, community rescues and births at the hospital. Despite this, the hospital only possesses two phototherapy machines, insufficient to meet the demand.

Dr. Rutaremwa emphasized the vital role of these machines in nurturing premature babies to good health, underlining the urgent need for additional equipment.

Nabimanya Erasmus, Chairperson of Legend Chrsc Kabale, recounted their fundraising efforts last year, primarily aimed at supporting the hospital’s neonatal unit by acquiring a new phototherapy machine.

Although they successfully raised Ugx 1,700,000, Dr. Rutaremwa revealed that the cost of a new machine ranges between Ugx 2,500,000 to 3,000,000. Nabimanya reassured the hospital of their commitment to securing the remaining funds.

He urged well-wishers to contribute towards the hospital’s cause to safeguard the lives of these vulnerable newborns.
