KAMPALA – This Sunday on June 16, 2024, Tree Adoption Uganda (TAU) together with its partners are having the Annual Run 4 Climate.
This time around, the set off point is at Hockey grounds Lugogo and the participants are running for a noble cause as usual which is aimed at creating awareness about Climate Change and its Action.
This fourth edition is after a decade of TAU Celebrating its dedicated services in the protection and conservation of the environment in Uganda as a tool for reaching out to masses through a fun-filled, networking , social and exercising activity.
In his remarks, Dr. Charles Batte, Chief Executive Officer, TAU called upon everyone to come and be part of the change makers through action to raise funds for the campaign which falls under the Rolling out of Trees( ROOTS) that plugs in line with a vision of 40 million tree with each person planting one.
“Our impact is gradually reaching the real people and we have been able to train over 2,500 youth to attain certain skills in ; Nursery bed Operations , grafting, pruning, propagation, human interactions and also many others with the women in Bwaise and other districts who have been taught to make briquettes as an energy saving initiative for cooking “, Dr. Batte asserted.
Jimmy Moses Olara, Communication Officer, TAU explained that they held successfully previous events in 2020, 2022 and 2023 except during the Interruptions of COVID -19 and each year they are getting better because the matter of Climate change is affecting every one and closer to us than we expected.
The Kits for the run will cost Ugx 25,000 for either a 5km or 10km
