NEWS- The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Anita Among has advised newly young couples to build their marriage on true love and friendship.
Speaker Among, made the remarks yesterday February 10th 2024 afternoon while speaking and witnessing the Holy Matrimony of Charles Bbale Mayiga and his wife, Sonia Elizabeth Nabagereka at Rubaga Cathedral and Charles Bbale Mayiga is the son to the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga.
Speaker Among counselled that the couple are coming from different backgrounds and this comes with different values and attitudes and advised them to make sure they get a mutual ground to live happily together.
Speaker Among, who was the chief guest, thanked the parents of the newlyweds for nurturing and aligning their children with the norms, values and cultures of the African society that respects the sanctity of marriage and she gifted the couple with 10 heads of cattle and wished them a blissful marriage.
The couple was wedded by the main celebrant, Rt Rev Bishop of Masaka Catholic Diocese, Rt Rev Serverus Jjumba and witnessed by several dignitaries including Nnabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda, Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo Chigamoi among others.
While blessing the marriage, Rt Rev Jjumba made a call to the newlyweds to put God ahead of anything else and remain faithful to one another saying that this was a covenant that needs divine assistance and asked them to uphold and respect marriage vows and dedicate it to God.
