The injured victims were identified as 50 year old man Dusabimana Mathious a resident of Shozi village in Nyakabande Sub county, Kisoro District who was a driver of the Subaru Forester vehicle.

Maate said that the particulars of the Kenyan fuel tank driver were not established because he fled the scene before the Police arrived and is now at large.

It’s alleged that both the motorcycle and Subaru Forester were from Kabale side heading to Kisoro side with the motorcycle in front of the Subaru Forester. Upon reaching Kisoro airport junction at Kisoro Airland Hotel, the duo met an oncoming fuel tanker of Kenyan registration that was empty, and moving  at very high speed which lost control in the corner.

An eye witness said that the trailer went to another lane and knocked the motorcycle and pushed it to the Subaru Forester killing the two people on motorcycle on spot and injuring both occupants in the Subaru but the passenger in the Subaru Forester died from Mutolere Hospital as she was getting treatment.

Maate explained that the scene was visited by Kisoro Traffic Police Officer Kushaba Micheal and team, a sketch map was drawn and the victims were rushed to Mutolere Hospital as the bodies of the deceased persons were taken to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination while the wreckage of the Motor vehicles and Motorcycle were taken to Kisoro CPS pending inspection by Inspector Of Vehicles.

The case was registered at Kisoro Central Police Station under reference number TAR 19/2024 to help hunt for the run away driver as investigations continue and the Police blamed the accident on over speeding.
