NEWS– Uganda Nation Roads Authority (UNRA) has announced that it will divert the flow of traffic to enable construction work along the Busega – Mpigi Express Alignment.
According to a statement issued by UNRA dated January 22nd, the planned diversion is aimed at the construction of Mpigi Interchange which will commence on January 29th 2024.
The statement indicate that all motorists heading to Masaka, Lyantonde, Mbarara and beyond will be redirected at Total Petrol Station in Mpigi to go through Mpigi Town Roundabout and rejoin Masaka Road at Kalagala a distance of 3.5 kms and likewise for motorists from Masaka heading to Kampala.
Uganda National Roads Authority has since placed traffic diversion signage directing the flow of traffic and safety measures have been undertaken along the new route to minimise inconveniences and ensure smooth traffic flow.
The construction of Mpigi Interchange is expected to last for 8 months and all motorists and other road users are urged to adhere to traffic signs and follow guidelines of traffic management on the ground during the construction period.
According to Uganda National Roads Authority, the construction is being done as part of its core objective of enhancing the transport infrastructure across the country.
