NEWS– The Police in Kazo district are investigating a fatal accident involving a UPDF truck, registration number H4DF 2475, which occurred on Friday morning around 9 a.m.
The truck was carrying 52 mourners from Nakaseke district to Ibanda district for a burial when the accident took place, resulting in the death of five-year-old juvenile Emily Kwagala.
In a press statement, SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region police spokesperson, reported that a motor vehicle with registration number H4DF 2475, an Isuzu lorry transporting two UPDF officers and 50 civilian mourners from Nakaseke district to Ibanda district for a burial, encountered a mechanical failure.
He said the vehicle was unable to negotiate a corner at Gaburungi cell along the Kazo-Rushere Road, veered off the road, and overturned in a trench. The accident resulted in one death, six serious injuries, and 30 minor injuries.
Kasasira stated that the victims were transported to Kazo Health Centre IV and Ibanda for treatment. The body of the deceased was taken to Kazo Health Centre IV mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
