Led by the group Vice Chairperson Twesiga Moses Rwakacaka, the team held a press conference at Palm Royale Hotel on Monday, October 14th 2024 to issue their apology to the members and clarify on their upcoming plans.

Other key leaders Boona Bagaigahare Nyekundire Southwestern Group leaders who flanked Rwakacaka included, Bernard Gumisiriza (the group Chairperson for Buhunga Sub-county), Alex Tumuranye aka Omuzinga (Publicity Secretary), Earnest Twetabe (Vice Secretary General), and Ezra Mwetiise (Vice Coordinator for Rukungiri District).

According to Moses Rwakacaka, since the October 7 incident, some of the grouo’s senior leaders have been circulating uncensored; misinformation and harmful propaganda especially against some key district leaders, which is untrue.

According to him, they have been accusing the RDC Bewayo, Security Minister Jim Katugugu Muhwezi and DPC Kyangungu for failing their programs, however, he made it clear that the altercation has been from their side as organisers since they didn’t follow the right procedures of holding such gatherings.

Rwakacaka frankly told the press that the chaos was caused by a breakdown in communication between the top leaders of Boona Bagaigahare Nyekundire Group and the Rukungiri District leadership, particularly the security team.

Asked about information on different media platforms pinning Minister Jim Muhwezi to be behind failing the group’s operation in Rukungiri, Rwakacaka made it clear that those circulating such propaganda should be held accountable since Minister Muhwezi has walk a walk of what President Museveni ordered him to do from their Entebbe State House meeting in March this year.

The Vice Chairperson expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his guidance during their visit to the State House and acknowledged General Muhwezi’s role in following up on the president’s directives.

Earnest Twetabe, the Vice Secretary for Boona Bagaigahare Nyekundire Southwestern group, acknowledged that misunderstandings among leaders contributed to delays in distributing resources to members.

Twetabe emphasized the importance of informing district and local leaders before any group’s activity or even distribution of any items to avoid further conflict.

As a person who was present in the State House meeting between the two warring groups, Twetabe pointed out that President Museveni had directed their group boss Peace Rugambwa to refund the Ugx 12,000, they had collected as membership fee stressing that under NRM leadership, no one should request for money from individuals to become members of such a group meant to alleviate them poverty.

The group Vice Secretary adds that the President also assured them that they would receive both their refunds and the items they were promised.
