Dark days ahead as Government suspends free electricity connection

NEWS- The Police in Kasese District are holding a one Jimmy Muhindo in custody and other five on run suspected of vandalizing an electric transformer with its parts.

SP Nelson Tumushime the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, revealed that the arrest of the suspect was prompted too, following intelligence information that was reported to the police at Kasese Central Police Station.

According SP Tumushime, the suspect was apprehended from his home in Katonzi Cell Nyakabingo Ward of Bulembia Division in Kasese Municipality with an electric transformer, wires and other parts, adding that other 5 suspects in the matter are still at large and police will hunt for them.

The police mouthpiece subsequently revealed that a similar case of vandalism was registered in the past two weeks in Basecamp Lower cell of Kasese Municipality and the suspect was still large.

SP Tumushime has since discouraged the general public in Kasese District to desist against involving in such acts of vandalism, stressing that it would result into a capital offence in case someone is arrested and arraigned to the courts of law.

He, however, noted that investigations into the matter are still paving way for more sources associated to the case to be identified and brought to the police for clarification.
