Police Officers being shown how bananas are processed into flour

A team of Forty-five Senior Police Officers undertaking the Intermediate Command and Staff Course, Intake 010/2026, at the Police Senior Command and Staff College, Bwebajja, have concluded a one-week national fieldx study.

The study aimed to bridge theory and practice by strengthening the officers’ command, operational planning and supervisory competencies, while deepening their understanding of the link between security and Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

The officers visited key sectors driving the national economy, including infrastructure, industry, agriculture and animal production, services, justice and law and order, and tourism.

The field study took them to the Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development and Processing Factory in Nyaruzinga, Bushenyi District, Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) in Nakawa and Namanve, Mbarara Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MBAZARDI), Roofings Rolling Mills and Uganda Baati Limited in Namanve, Rwenjuru Farm and Training Centre, Pearl Dairy Farms Limited in Mbarara and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The exposure provided the officers with practical insights into how various sectors contribute to national development, which they can apply to their command responsibilities, professional growth and broader policing duties.

“We are confident that our officers are now better equipped to execute their command and staff responsibilities with competence and urgency,” the Acting Commandant, Police Senior Command and Staff College, Bwebajja Assistant Commissioner of Police Canon Dr Barbara Alungat, said.

She commended the heads and teams of the facilities visited for sharing their knowledge and expertise and appreciated the Inspector General of Police and his team for their continued strategic guidance.
