Prisons boss Johnson Byabashaija

The Commissioner General of Prisons Dr Canon Johnson Byabasheija has made a series of strategic appointments, transfers and leave arrangements for senior officers to enhance professionalism and improve service delivery.

According to a Press Statement issued by the Senior Commissioner of Prisons who is also the Uganda Prisons Service Spokesman Frank Baine, 57 Senior Officers who completed the Intermediate Command and Staff Course have been asked to report back to their stations in their respective capacities.

 However, 9 officers have been given new appointments and others transferred to new stations and these include Peter Muheki who has been appointed new Gulu District Prisons Commander.

Those transfered include Dorcus Polly Abalo from Nyamushekyera in Bushenyi to Sheema as Officer in Charge while Benjamin Lodda Magoola who was the OC in Sheema proceeds for accumulated leave.

Micheal Byamukama has been transferred from Tororo Main Prison to Nakisunga and Officer in Charge replacing Peter Isingoma has been transferred to Mityana as Officwd in Charge and Robert Sande becomes Deputy in Charge of Tororo Prisons.

According to the statement, Emmanuel Hiire from Kyamugorani, Trevor Akwanya Alenyo from Tororo and Edmund Turihohabwe from Soroti Main Prison will proceed to Upper Prison Luzira to be assigned new duties.

According to Baine, the new changes take immediate effect and all Regional and District Prisons Commanders have been directed to oversee the handover and takeover of offices.
