Rt Rev Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu pray for fishermen at Bukungu Landing Site

NEWS– Hundreds of people, mainly fishermen have responded to an altar call by the Archbishop of Church of Uganda, the Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu who visited them at Bukungu Landing Site on the shores of Lake Kyoga.

Bukungu landing site is in Bukungu Parish, Buyende Archdeaconry in Buyende District, at the edge of the Busoga Diocese and while  delivering his sermon, Archbishop Kaziimba, made reference to Jesus Christ calling fishermen to follow him, saying, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19).

He urged the fishing community to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, and hundreds responded to the altar call and advised them to live responsibly and avoid careless behavior of alcoholism, sexual immorality and poor planning and urged them to save and plan with their spouses to look after their children and to remain focused onto Jesus Christ.

The Archbishop Kaziimba who was accompanied by the Busoga Diocesan Bishop, Rt Rev Paul Naimanhye, clergy and other leaders, toured the construction of two ferries and watched a boat competition by the fishermen and thanked the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the government for availing ferries at Lake Kyoga to ease transport and boost trade.

While in Busoga Diocese, Archbishop Kaziimba visited a number of projects including Mary’s House of Mothers Union under construction, One World Medical Center and officially opened the Busoga Diocesan SACCO.

According to the Church of Uganda Communications Officer Sadiiki Adams Mugume the Archbishop will proceed to Arua in Madi West Nile Diocese for a Pastoral Visit to Uganda Christian University Arua Campus on July 9th, 2024, as the University Chancellor.
