The Head of the Indian Military Advisory and Training Team (IMATT), Brig Gen BS Fogat, along with his delegation yesterday June 25th 2025, afternoon paid a farewell visit to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as their two-year tour of duty in Uganda ends.
During the meeting, Gen Kainerugaba commended the Indian team for their contributions to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) during their tenure and also expressed gratitude for their dedicated support in enhancing training programmes and strengthening bilateral military cooperation.
Brig Gen Fogat thanked Gen Kainerugaba for the warm hospitality and collaborative engagement throughout their deployment and highlighted the Chief of Defence Forces hands-on involvement in advancing training standards within the UPDF.
According to the UPDF, as the outgoing Indian team, which has been based at the Senior Command and Staff College (SCSC) in Kimaka, prepares to depart, a new Indian Military Advisory and Training Team (IMATT) group is set to assume duties to ensure the continuity of this partnership.
